ℹ️ General Info

1. Question: Why should I rent a boat in Agios Nikolaos?

   Answer: Agios Nikolaos is located within a beautiful bay (Mirabello Bay) with many hidden coves and some of the most popular beaches of Crete (e.g., Voulisma, Kolokytha)! It offers crystal-clear turquoise waters to explore by snorkelling, stunning cliffs to jump from and the option of secluded beaches accessible only by boat or/and long hiking. Renting a boat in Agios Nikolaos is ideal not only because of all these mentioned before, but also because the mountains surrounding the bay protect you from the prevailing strong NW winds. Even when the rest of Crete is too windy and the sea too choppy, Mirabello Bay will have calmer seas.

2. Question: Can I hire a skipper?

   Answer: Yes, Captain4aday can provide you with a professional skipper for an extra fee (+25€/hr) so that you can sit back, relax, and enjoy a stress-free boat trip.

3. Question: Can I drive a boat by myself?

   Answer: Yes, you can. See section "📋 Requirements" for more info.

4. Question: What if I have never driven a boat before?

   Answer: Do not worry! Before you drive a boat by yourself, we will familiarise you with the boat and its equipment, and then we will have a sea trial to make sure you are comfortable and confident enough with it.

5. Question: What should I know about the safety briefing?

   Answer: You are kindly requested to arrive 30 minutes before your rental in order to be briefed about all the safety matters and familiarize you with the boat and its equipment. A sea trial is about to be followed, and as soon as you are comfortable and confident enough with the boat, you are "good to go". The familiarisation is free of charge, and its duration is approximately 30 minutes.

6. Question: Do we have safety equipment on board?

   Answer: Of course! SAFETY FIRST! Life jackets and all mandatory (by Hellenic Coast Guard) safety gear are provided by us. All boats align with the international and local safety requirements and are equipped with more than the minimum required safety equipment to maximise the safety of you and your loved ones.

7. Question: What is included with the boat?

   Answer: All boats are equipped with a removable sun tent (bimini) to protect you from the hot sun. Also, we provide you free of charge a cool box filled up with ice, water, soft drinks aaaand... a small surprise! 🤫

8. Question: Can I bring food and drinks on board?

   Answer: Yes, of course! You are welcome to bring your own snacks, drinks, and water for your trip.

9. Question: Can I swim and snorkel during the trip?

   Answer: Absolutely! Swimming, snorkelling, and relaxing in beautiful bays are some of the best parts of the experience. If you don't have your own snorkelling gear, we can provide you with one for only +5€/set.

10. Question: What if we can't fit in one boat?

    Answer: You can rent more than one boat at the same time.

⏳Duration

1. Question: What is the minimum rental period?

   Answer: The minimum rental time is 2 hours during the low season and 4 hours during the high season.

2. Question: What is the maximum rental period?

   Answer: There is no maximum rental period; you can even rent a boat for days or weeks! There is only a daylight restriction, which means that you can only rent out a boat between sunrise and sunset.

3. Question: Can I extend my rental period?

   Answer: We always try to be flexible and offer a stress-free experience to our customers, that's why you are always welcome to extend your rental period, but only upon informing us to ensure there is no booking after you. Kindly note that in some cases we must follow the rental period strictly, as in case of any delays, it might negatively impact other customers. In such a case, we will be in the unpleasant situation of requesting additional charges to compensate the customers after you.

💰Pricing

1. Question: How much does a rental cost?

   Answer: The rental cost depends on the category of the boat you choose, the rental hours and the option of hiring a skipper or not. The minimum rental price is 170€ for 2 hours with our smallest boat (Parydor Y45).

2. Question: What is the fuel policy?

   Answer: We follow the full-to-full policy. You rent out the boat with full fuel tanks, and on your return, we refill them for you. The fuel consumed is charged additionally to the rental price and according to the market's rate on the day of your rental (Currently: 2,20€/ltr).

3. Question: Is any discount available?

   Answer: From time to time, we do run some promotional offers. Feel free to contact us to learn about any ongoing offers.

📅 Booking & Cancellation

1. Question: What is your cancellation policy?

   Answer: We understand plans can change – here’s how cancellations work:
   

   • 7+ days before rental → 100% refund*

   • 48 hours before rental → 50% refund*

   • Less than 48 hours before rental → No refund.

   
   Kindly note that in case of a refund, any booking/service fee or commission charged by third-party platforms (such as PayPal, Bokun, SamBoat, Click&Boat, GetYourGuide, Viator, etc.) will be deducted from the refunded amount.

   
   In the unforeseen event that we have to cancel your booking for any reason, you’ll receive a full refund and/or reschedule you another boat.

2. Question: What happens if I have booked through third parties?

   Answer: The cancellation policy in other platforms/providers might vary from ours. Please refer to the relevant provider's page for the cancellation policy applied.

3. Question: When will I receive my refund?

   Answer: Kindly note that the receipt of the refund is handled automatically and should arrive within seconds. In some cases, banks' process time might delay the refund for a few days. When third parties are involved, the refund is not handled by us, and therefore, you should seek their website for more info on this issue.

4. Question: What happens in case of bad weather?
   Answer: If the Port Authority bans boats' departures due to rough sea conditions or if we consider that it is not safe to go out, then your booking will be rescheduled free of charge, or you will receive a full refund. In other cases, if the weather is questionable, we could also offer you a free-of-charge skipper to ensure a hassle-free and safe experience on the water.

🗺️ Recommended Route

1. Question: Where am I allowed to go with the boat, and how can I know where to go and where not?

   Answer: You can cruise around Mirabello Bay to discover hidden coves, isolated beaches, and the waters surrounding it, but not outside of it, and never more than 3 NM from the nearest coastline. Believe me, it's a big enough area even for 2 full-day rentals. In most of the cases, we recommend navigating along the West coastline and towards the North. That's because you are protected from the prevailing NW winds, while at the same time, you visit a few of the most popular destinations of our area, and you have the chance to make multiple stops in a short distance between them. We will ask you to download an application, which you will use as a map. In this app, you will find our recommendations for our favourite beaches and all the no-go areas.

📍Location

1. Question: Where do I pick up the boat?

   Answer: We are located at the Platform (Pontoon) C in Marina of Agios Nikolaos, Crete. We meet at the BBQ area of the marina and depart directly from there.

2. Question: Where can I park my car?

   Answer: Affordable day parking (4€/full day) is typically available at the marina. Park your car at Parking Area B for a closer reach to our meeting point.

📋 Requirements

1. Question: What is the minimum age?

   Answer: You must be at least 18 years old to rent and drive a boat on your own. There is no age limit for passengers.

2. Question: What documents do I need?

   Answer: You only need a valid ID or passport. If renting a boat that requires a license, you must also present a valid boat license.

3. Question: Do I need a boat driving license?

   Answer: No, Greek regulations allow you to drive a boat of up to 30hp engine without having a boat license. In case you want to rent a boat with an engine above 30hp, then a valid coastal sailing or speedboat license is required.

4. Question: What are my responsibilities?

   Answer: As a captain of the boat, you are responsible for the boat and its passengers during the whole duration of your rental. Kindly note that we are not responsible for any damages, illnesses, sickness, injuries, or death, or for any legal penalties that might come as a result of the improper use of the boat by its captain.

5. Question: Are there any restrictions?

   Answer: Please follow local sea rules and never operate under the influence of alcohol or drugs. More information about the local regulations will be given during the safety briefing.
